In addition to the aforementioned beverages, offer the adults of legal drinking age a choice of alcoholic drinks (i.e. ice-cold beer) as well as non-alcoholic drinks for designated drivers. Remember, don’t forget the ice! At your barbecue event, have plenty of ice available, especially on a hot summer afternoon. Helpful tips: To avoid watering down a drink with ice cubes made of plain H2O, try flavored ice cubes! Overnight, freeze a portion of whatever specialty beverage you will be serving (i.e. lemonade, punch, etc.). When you are ready to serve the beverage, place the flavored ice cubes into a glass pitcher, pour the beverage, and serve. Another great
suggestion is to place a piece of fresh fruit (i.e. raspberry,
blackberry, blueberry, etc.), a crisp mint leaf, or the zest of a
lemon or orange into each compartment of the tray, then fill the
entire ice cube tray with water and freeze overnight. When you are
ready to serve the beverage, place the decorative ice cubes into a
glass pitcher, pour the beverage, and serve.
The following are easy-to-follow, step-by-step recipes for refreshing and fabulously invigorating homemade beverages - perfect to serve at your cookout!
