Basketball is a fun sport to play at an outdoor event, such as a barbecue – all you need is a makeshift court (i.e. your driveway), a basketball hoop, and a basketball. Great athletes, such as Michael Jordan and Kobe Bryant, have really popularized the game.

Basketball is a recognized sport in the Summer Olympics, which takes place once every four years. In addition to basketball, the Summer Olympics have included many different kinds of sports representing teams from various countries all around the world. The next Summer Olympic Games will be held in 2012 in London, England.
